Panoramic Tours lets you put 360° panoramas online as tours. This page explains, in plain words, what we store about you, why, and what you can do about it.
What we store
Your account
- Your email address: to log you in, and to send you account emails (confirming your address, resetting your password). We don't send newsletters or marketing.
- Your display name, if you give one. It's shown on your tours.
- Your password, stored only in scrambled (hashed) form. Nobody, including us, can read it.
- When you signed up, confirmed your email and last logged in.
What you upload and make
- 360° images and the tours, scenes, titles, descriptions, arrows and info points you create.
- Photos for stitching. These are kept privately (never published) so that a scene can be stitched again later, until you delete the scene or tour. They are copied to a computer run by the site's owner to be stitched, and that copy is deleted when the stitching is done. Uploads that were never finished are deleted after 3 days.
- For guided phone capture: the direction your phone was pointing for each photo, which helps line the photos up.
- Location and camera details are removed from every published panorama. Photos taken by your camera app may still contain that information (for example GPS coordinates) in the private copy kept for stitching. Guided capture photos never contain it.
Technical information
- Your IP address is recorded for failed logins, sign-ups and password-reset requests, to stop people guessing passwords or abusing the site. These records are deleted after one to two days.
- Our web host keeps standard server logs (IP address, pages requested, time) for security and to keep the site running.
- One cookie keeps you logged in. There are no advertising, analytics or tracking cookies.
- When you capture a scene on your phone, your browser keeps the photos on your phone until they have been uploaded, then deletes them.
Who can see your tours
- Public tours can be seen by anyone, and are listed on the Tours page.
- Private tours can only be seen by you, and by anyone you give the tour's secret link to. You can stop a secret link working at any time.
- Tours you embed on another website can be seen by that website's visitors.
- The site's administrators can see all tours, to keep the site running and deal with reports of misuse.
Who else is involved
We don't sell your information or share it with anyone for advertising. The only outside service involved is our web host (StableHost), whose servers store the site, its database and your uploads, and send its emails. Everything the site shows, including its fonts, comes from its own server: your browser doesn't contact any other company while you use it.
We will hand over information only if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Your account and tours are kept until you delete them. Deleting a scene or a tour deletes its images and photos straight away. Deleting your account deletes all of your tours with it. Copies may remain in the web host's backups for a short time afterwards.
Your choices
- Change your display name and password, or delete your account, on your Account page.
- Make tours public or private, and delete scenes or whole tours, on each tour's Manage page.
- To ask what we hold about you, or anything else about your privacy, contact the site's owner.
Children
The site isn't meant for children under 13, and they may not create an account.
Changes
If this page changes in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top, and for big changes we'll email account holders.
